Why is Makar Sankranti celebrated

Why is Makar Sankranti celebrated? As you know, in India since the beginning, nature has been given the place of God and the festival of Makar Sankranti is also dedicated to nature. Actually, this is a completely scientific festival and this festival is celebrated because of the changing position of the Sun. As you know, most of the traditions and beliefs in Sanatan Dharma and Hinduism have been created from a scientific point of view.

Makar Sankranti is known by different names in different states of India and is celebrated in different ways. In Gujarat, people know Makar Sankranti as Uttarayan, whereas in Rajasthan, Bihar and Jharkhand it is called Sankrat. In Tamil Nadu it is known as Pongal, in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala only as Sankranti and somewhere in Uttar Pradesh it is known as Khichdi. So what is the story behind this?

Let me tell you that in Hindu religion the month is divided into two parts, Krishna Paksha and Shukla Paksha. In the same way the year is also divided into two ions. One is Uttarayan and one is Dakshinayan. If both are added then one year is completed. The Uttarayan movement of the Sun starts from the day of Makar Sankranti, hence Makar Sankranti is also called Uttarayan. Apart from this, in the month of Paush, when the Sun leaves Sagittarius and enters Capricorn, then the festival of Makar Sankranti is celebrated because the Sun enters Capricorn from Sagittarius, hence it is known as Makar Sankranti. Is. Makar Sankranti is a festival which is celebrated all over India.

Makar Sankranti is celebrated every year on 14th January, so these are not all the scientific reasons behind celebrating this festival. Apart from this there are some religious beliefs also. As per the beliefs of Hindu religion, on this day i.e. on the day of Makar Sankranti, Lord Vishnu had declared the end of the war by destroying the demons and burying their heads in Mandar Mountain. That is why this day of Makar Sankranti is also considered the day to eliminate evils and negativity. In some places there is also a tradition of flying kites on this day. This festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over India.

Conclusion:

Makar Sankranti is the coordination of nature, science, and religion. This festival symbolizes the Uttarayan movement of the Sun, which gives the message of positivity, new beginnings and end of evils in life. It is celebrated with different names and traditions in different parts of India, like Uttarayan, Pongal, Khichdi etc. Makar Sankranti not only gives us an opportunity to understand cultural diversity but also teaches us that we should leave negativity and live life with positivity, philanthropy and energy.
