26 January Republic Day Speech
Honorable Chief Guest, respected teachers, and my dear countrymen,
First of all, I wish you all a very happy Republic Day. This day is a symbol of pride and respect for our countrymen. Today we have gathered here to celebrate the glorious Republic Day of India on 26th January.
As we all know, our country India became independent on 15 August 1947. We got this freedom because of the sacrifice, sacrifice and struggle of many freedom fighters. But to make this freedom complete in reality, there was a need for a constitution which could make us a symbol of unity, equality and rights. That historic day came on 26 January 1950 when our Constitution came into force and our country became a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic.
Our Constitution is the largest written constitution in the world. It took about 2 years, 11 months and 18 days to make it. Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar is known as the “Father of the Constitution”. Along with him other Constituent Assembly members prepared this great document. This Constitution not only protects our fundamental rights, but it also reminds us of our duties.
Republic Day is not just a celebration but a day to remember the values and ideals for which our freedom fighters sacrificed. Heroes like Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose fought for the freedom of the country without caring for their lives. Today we salute his contribution.
Today is not only a day of pride but also of introspection. In these years of independence, India has made immense progress in science, technology, agriculture, medicine, education and other fields. We have achieved historic achievements like Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan. Today the youth of our country are proving their talent all over the world.
But, it would not be wrong to say that we are still facing many challenges. Problems like terrorism, unemployment, corruption, casteism and gender inequality are hindering the progress of our country. It is our duty to make every possible effort to overcome these problems.
On this auspicious occasion of today, we should take a pledge that we will follow the ideals of our Constitution. We have to work unitedly and move forward towards making our country a “golden bird” once again. We have to ensure that every person gets his rights and there is a sense of equality and justice in the society.
Also, we should not forget our duties. The future of our country is in our hands. If we all contribute our bit, then the day is not far when India will emerge as the most powerful and ideal nation in the world.
In the end, I want to tell you that Republic Day is not just a festival but a responsibility. We should take inspiration from our history and build an India where every person experiences liberty, equality and fraternity.
On this Republic Day, let us take a pledge that we will take our country to new heights. Together we will create an India that becomes a source of inspiration not only for its citizens but for the entire world.
Jai Hind! Vande Mataram!
