Speech on Republic Day
Greetings, friends,
Today, we have gathered here to celebrate the grand occasion of India’s 76th Republic Day. First of all, I would like to extend my heartfelt wishes to you all on this special day. It is an honor for me to share my thoughts on such a significant occasion.
Respected Chief Guest, honorable teachers, and my dear fellow citizens,
As we all know, every year, 26th January is celebrated as Republic Day in our country. This day holds immense importance in the history of India. On 15th August 1947, our country gained independence from British rule, but we did not have a constitution to govern our nation.

At that time, our leaders realized the need for a constitution that would provide equal rights to all citizens and lead the nation towards progress. For this, a Constituent Assembly was formed. Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, who played a key role in drafting the constitution, is called the Father of the Indian Constitution. Under his guidance, the drafting of the constitution was completed on 26th November 1949, and it was implemented across the nation on 26th January 1950. This is why every year, we celebrate 26th January as Republic Day.
Our constitution is the largest written constitution in the world, providing many fundamental rights and duties to every citizen. It is based on the principles of democracy, secularism, and equality. It is because of the constitution that our country remains independent, republican, and democratic.

Friends,
Today is a day to remember the great freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for our independence. Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, Chandrashekhar Azad, Rani Lakshmibai, and countless unknown heroes gave their lives so that we could breathe freely in an independent and republican country. Their sacrifices and dedication can never be forgotten.
However, we must also remember that the true essence of freedom and republic lies in every citizen fulfilling their responsibilities and contributing towards the betterment of the nation. Although our country is making significant progress, challenges like unemployment, corruption, inequality, and illiteracy still persist.
On this Republic Day, let us pledge to work tirelessly to resolve these issues. As citizens, we must understand both our rights and our duties. Merely demanding rights is not enough; we must also prioritize our contributions to society and the nation.

Today reminds us that with unity and hard work, we can once again establish our nation as a global leader. India’s culture, diversity, and heritage are unparalleled in the world. We should be proud to be citizens of this great nation.
