Speech on Republic Day
Don’t ask the world about our story,
Our only identity is that we are Indians.
We are Indians.
Respected Chief Guest, esteemed teachers, and my dear countrymen,
Wishing you all a very Happy Republic Day! Today, we have gathered here to celebrate the 76th Republic Day of India. This day is a symbol of pride, dedication, and patriotism for all Indians.
We all know that India gained independence from British rule on 15th August 1947. However, even after independence, we did not have our own governing framework. To address this, a Constituent Assembly was formed, and the Constitution of India was drafted. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar is regarded as the father of our Constitution. His hard work and vision gave India the shape of a unified and strong republic.
On 26th January 1950, our country’s Constitution came into effect, and India officially became a Republic. This day holds a unique place in Indian history, reminding us of our rights, duties, and the democratic system of the nation.
India’s Constitution: Our Strength
India’s Constitution is the largest written constitution in the world. It guarantees every Indian citizen the right to equality, freedom, and justice. It treats all religions, classes, and communities with the same perspective. Our Constitution provides us with democratic rights, enabling us to freely express our views, share ideas, and contribute to the building of a better society.
Since the adoption of the Constitution, our country has moved in a new direction. We have achieved significant milestones in science, technology, education, and arts. Today, India is one of the fastest-growing nations in the world. However, we must remember that all of this has been made possible by the sacrifices of those freedom fighters who gave their lives for our independence.
Sacrifices of Freedom Fighters
To make India independent and a republic, countless freedom fighters sacrificed their lives. Leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Subhas Chandra Bose, Chandrashekhar Azad, and Rani Lakshmibai continue to inspire us with their stories of courage and dedication. Their sacrifices are unforgettable, and it is our duty to realize their dreams and make our nation a global leader in every sphere.
Challenges in the Present Day
While India has made great strides since independence and becoming a republic, we still face several challenges. Issues like unemployment, illiteracy, inequality, and corruption are weakening our nation. These challenges are significant obstacles in our path to development.
On this Republic Day, let us take inspiration to work toward solving these problems. It is time for all of us to come together and address these challenges to make our nation a better place.
Our Responsibilities and Pledge
On this Republic Day, let us all pledge:
- To respect and uphold our Constitution.
- To abide by our rights and duties.
- To promote education, employment, and equality.
- To work tirelessly to eradicate corruption.
- And most importantly, to make our nation the best in the world.
Keep the Tricolor Flying High
On Republic Day, our tricolor flag serves as a symbol of pride and unity. It represents our freedom and the sacrifices made for it. In conclusion, I would like to say:
“Salute this tricolor, the pride of our nation,
Keep it flying high as long as life remains,
As long as life remains.”
Conclusion
Republic Day is not just a festival; it is a reminder of our history, sacrifices, and hopes for the future. It reminds us of our responsibilities and fills us with the enthusiasm to do something great for our country. Let us all come together and make this Republic Day memorable, contributing to the progress of our nation.
Jai Hind, Jai Bharat!
