What use is a river without water?

Respected Principal, honorable teachers, and my dear friends,
A very warm greeting to all of you. My name is Sangeeta, and I feel honored to have the opportunity to share my thoughts on the occasion of Republic Day. I am deeply grateful for this chance to speak before you.
Today, on the 26th of January, our beloved country, India, is celebrating its Republic Day with great pride and enthusiasm. This day holds immense importance for all of us Indians because it marks the day when our Constitution came into effect, making India a complete Republic.

Historical Significance of Republic Day
India attained independence on 15th August 1947 after years of struggle and countless sacrifices by our freedom fighters. However, even after achieving independence, our country needed a set of rules and laws to govern it properly. To fulfill this need, a committee was formed under the leadership of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. This committee worked tirelessly for 2 years, 11 months, and 18 days to draft the Constitution of India.
On 26th January 1950, the Constitution was implemented, and since then, this day has been celebrated as Republic Day every year. This day symbolizes our democratic values and the strength of our Constitution.
Features of the Constitution and Our Rights
India’s Constitution is the largest written Constitution in the world. It grants us fundamental rights and provides us with equality, freedom, and justice. Through this Constitution, we are empowered to express ourselves, fight for our rights, and contribute to the development of our nation.
The ideals enshrined in the Constitution form the foundation of our nation. It also reminds us of our duties and responsibilities towards our country, urging us to remain loyal and work for its progress.
Contribution of Soldiers and Freedom Fighters
We must always be grateful to our freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to free us from British rule. Great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, and Chandrashekhar Azad made immense sacrifices for the independence we enjoy today.
Even after independence, our brave soldiers continue to protect our borders with their lives on the line. Their courage and sacrifices ensure the safety and security of our nation. They deserve our utmost respect and gratitude.
Our Responsibilities
As our country moves forward on the path of development, it becomes our responsibility to contribute towards its progress. We must uphold the ideals of the Constitution and fulfill our duties as responsible citizens.
To build a stronger and better nation, we must focus on education, cleanliness, environmental conservation, and social service. We must stand united and actively participate in the growth of our country.
Inspiration from Republic Day
Republic Day teaches us that our nation is not just a piece of land but a symbol of our identity, culture, and dreams. We must take pride in it and work to preserve its unity and integrity.
Conclusion
Before concluding my speech, I would like to remind everyone that our country will only grow stronger if we respect our Constitution and work wholeheartedly for its development.
