China vs. America: The Battle of AI and Technology

The AI War Between China and America

Currently, there is an invisible yet intense competition between China and the United States, both striving to establish themselves as global superpowers. While the U.S. considers itself the most powerful nation, China is now challenging this status. At the core of this silent battle lies Artificial Intelligence (AI). Experts believe that the future superpower will be the one that has the most advanced AI systems, the strongest security infrastructure, and the best electric vehicle (EV) technology.

DeepSeek vs. ChatGPT: The AI Battle

China’s new AI tool, DeepSeek, has outperformed America’s ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Meta’s advanced AI models. Technology experts have hailed DeepSeek as the best AI tool to date. It not only provides more accurate and faster responses but also excels in tasks like mathematics, coding, and more.

In an intriguing experiment, both AI tools were asked to create a rotating triangle with a red ball inside it. ChatGPT placed the ball outside the triangle, while DeepSeek correctly positioned the ball inside. This precision and comprehension proved DeepSeek to be 97% better than its competitors.

Additionally, since its launch, DeepSeek has been downloaded more than 1.6 million times globally. Its mobile app is trending at number one in countries like Australia, Canada, China, Singapore, the U.S., and the UK.

Cost of DeepSeek vs. ChatGPT

While American AI models cost billions of dollars to develop, China created DeepSeek at a significantly lower cost. Developing ChatGPT-4 required $1.1 billion (₹8,630 crores), whereas DeepSeek was developed for just ₹490 crores.

In terms of subscription, ChatGPT Plus costs ₹1,726 per month, while Deepak offers an annual subscription for less than ₹5. This stark cost difference poses a major challenge to American companies.

China’s Dominance in Electric Vehicles

China has also left America behind in the field of electric vehicle (EV) technology. While Tesla, a U.S. company, is considered a leader in this domain, China now controls 60% of the global EV market.

In 2023, China sold 6.8 million EVs and exported them to over 170 countries. In comparison, America sold only 1.2 million EVs, a significantly smaller figure. Chinese company Build Your Dreams (BYD) has overtaken Tesla in this segment.

India is also progressing rapidly in the EV segment. Many foreign companies are planning to expand their presence in the Indian market, with the Indian government actively promoting EV adoption.

China’s Military Strength and Weapons Technology

Apart from AI and EVs, China has also begun to outpace America in the field of military weaponry. China’s latest aircraft is considered more advanced than America’s modern fighter jets. Experts predict that in the near future, China could emerge as a global military power due to its technological advancements.

Lessons for India

The technological war between America and China offers important lessons for India. In the coming years, nations with indigenous AI technology will lead the global stage. Relying on borrowed technology from other countries will not make a nation self-reliant.

India must focus on developing its own AI tools and technologies while investing in EVs and other emerging technologies. Without this, India risks becoming dependent on other countries.

Conclusion

China has posed a significant challenge to America in fields like AI, EVs, and military power. Just as the Cold War of the 1960s and 70s was a contest between America and Russia, the new Cold War of today is between China and the U.S. This war is not about weapons but about technology.

The future belongs to nations that achieve technological self-reliance. The competition between America and China will not only impact these two nations but also shape the future of the entire world.
