Story of Mohan and Sohan’s picnic

It was a summer morning. The sun was shining in the sky, and the cool breeze was blowing lightly. Mohan and Sohan, who were childhood best friends, decided that they would go on a picnic today. There was a beautiful lake near his village, which was surrounded by lush green trees and beautiful flowers. The two friends met early in the morning to plan the picnic.

“Sohan, let’s go to the lake?” Mohan said excitedly.
“Yeah, that would be a lot of fun!” Sohan replied.

Both of them quickly packed essential items from their homes. Mohan kept mangoes, oranges, some sandwiches and a bottle of cold water in the basket. Sohan kept a kite, playing cards and a small ball in his bag. They took out their bicycles and headed towards the lake.

Both of them talked a lot on the way. Mohan said, “Sohan, do you remember the last time we had a picnic by the river during school holidays?”
“Yes, and we both took a boat ride!” Sohan said laughing.

It took them about half an hour to reach the lake. When they reached the lake, the view was very beautiful. The sun’s rays were shining on the water, and birds were chirping nearby. Mohan and Sohan chose a big tree, under whose shade they could sit comfortably.

“This place is perfect,” Mohan said.
Together they spread the mat and arranged their belongings.

First of all he started flying kites. Sohan released the kite into the air and said, “Look how high it is going!”
Mohan replied while handling the string of the kite, “But it is not easy to handle.”

The wind had increased, and the kite started going up quickly. Suddenly, a strong gust came, and the kite broke and fell into the lake.
“Hey, what will we do now?” Sohan said worriedly.
“No problem, we will go to the lake and get the kite,” Mohan replied smiling.

Both of them pulled up their pants to take out the kite and got into the water near the lake. They got the kite, but they themselves got wet. Laughing, they came back to the tree.

Then he took out the food items. While eating sandwiches and fruits, both of them remembered funny stories from their school. Mohan said, “Remember, when Masterji made me stand in class because I did not do my homework?”
Sohan laughed and said, “And you said that your book was eaten by a cow!”

The series of laughter and banter continued among the friends. After finishing the meal they started walking along the lake shore. There they played the game of ‘tossing pebbles’ with small stones in water.

“Look how far my stone bounced,” Sohan said proudly.
“But mine bounced three times!” Mohan replied challengingly.

Dusk was beginning to fall, and the sky was filled with colors of orange and pink. Mohan and Sohan played some games with cards and then started packing their things.

“Today was so much fun, Sohan,” Mohan said.
“Yes, and we should come again for a picnic soon,” Sohan agreed.

When both of them started returning home, satisfaction and happiness were clearly visible on their faces. The serene image of the lake, the laughter of his friends, and all those games were something he would always remember.
